Alert for Maine: If This Is Your Password, Change It Now!
You don’t want to have an easy-to-guess password—that would make your information less secure. So, Maine, what are the most common ones?
Listen, we get that using the same password for everything is way easier—who wants to remember a bunch of different ones? But if a hacker gets ahold of just one, they’ve basically got access to all your accounts, so it’s way smarter to switch things up.
Given all of that, how do we know which passwords are most commonly used here in Maine, and why is that information important?
NordPass, in collaboration with NordStellar, analyzed a 2.5TB database of exposed passwords found on publicly available sources, including the dark web.

They did not purchase or collect any personal data for the study and focused solely on statistical information.
The data was sorted by country, including passwords leaked through malware or data breaches. In many cases, email domains helped them identify whether the passwords were used for personal or corporate accounts.
According to a report shared by CNBC, experts recommend a few simple steps to keep your accounts safe.
Change your passwords regularly, and make sure they’re strong—at least 20 characters long with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid using personal info like birthdays, don’t reuse passwords across sites, and whenever possible, switch to passkeys like fingerprints or face scans for easier and safer logins.

And of course, after you see which passwords are used the most, if you happen to use any of them, make sure to change things up. Then, we’d love to hear from you! Feel free to join the conversation by messaging us on the app.
