The NCAA Division I Cabinet voted this year to allow teams to place up to two commercial logos on their uniforms and apparel.
This includes one additional logo on equipment during the regular season. The patches, limited to 4 square inches each, can also include an extra logo during conference championships, with the new rule taking effect on August 1st.

Following the NCAA’s decision, UMaine Athletics and its multimedia rights provider, Van Wagner, have expanded sponsorship opportunities.
These opportunities include jersey patch placements for corporate partners. UMaine Vice President and Director of Athletics Jude Killy said the move could help generate additional revenue to support the department and its programs while also highlighting partners whose values and brand identities align with those of the university.

And there you have it! With these changes, the UMaine Black Bears could add sponsors to their uniforms as early as August.
