The MDI Trojans rolled over an undermanned Spruce Mountain Football Team 50-14 at Alumni Field in Bar Harbor on Senior Recognition Night , Friday, October 6th. Spruce Mountain only had 15 players dressed.

The Trojans scored on their first 4 possessions and led 30-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter.

MDI won the coin toss and received the ball, taking over at their own 47 yard line. It took just 2:59 seconds and the Trojans were in the end zone, as freshman Lincoln Gray powered in from 6 yards out for the score. The 2-point conversion was good, and MDI led 8-0.

Spruce Mountain was forced to punt on their opening possession, and MDI took over at their own 25 yard line with 5:52 left in the 1st Quarter. Quarterback Spencer Laurendeau connected to Jacob Shields on a 74 yard pass, and with the 2-point conversion good, MDI led 16-0. The drive took just 18 seconds.

On Spruce Mountain's next possession, Spencer Laurendeau picked off Dylan Jewett's pass and returned it 25 yards, with the Trojans taking over on the Phoenix 15 yard line. 1 play, and 4 seconds later, MDI was in the end zone again, this time on a 15 yard pass from Laurendeau to Cal Hodgdon. The 2-point conversion was good and MDI was up 24-0 with 5:13 left in the 1st Quarter.

After Spruce Mountain was forced to punt again, MDI  took over on their own 42 yard line. 1:34 later, Gray was running into the end zone for his 2nd touchdown, this time from 15 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no-good, and MDI led 30-0.

On the final play of the 1st Quarter, Spruce Mountain scored, on a 59 yard touchdown run by Dylan Jewett, the Phoenix quarterback. The 2-point conversion was good, and MDI led 30-8.

After MDI took over on their own 37 yard line, Spencer Laurendeau answered, running in from 67 yards out. The drive took just 15 seconds, and with the 2-point conversion good, MDI led 38-8.

MDI would score again, this time on a 2 yard run by Laurendeau. The 2-point conversion was no good, and MDI led 44-8 with 8:11 left in the 1st Half.

The Trojans scored once more in the 1st Half, this time on a 70 yard fumble recovery by Evan Mackenzie, and the junior ran the ball back 70 yards. The 2-point conversion was no-good and with 3:57 left in the 1st Half, MDI led 50-8.

The 2nd Half was played with running time. MDI had most of their 2nd team in gaining valuable experience.

The lone touchdown came with 7:47 remaining in the 3rd Quarter when Dylan Jewett ran in from 45 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no good and the final was 50-14.

MDI is now 5-1, and will play at Morse on Friday, October 13 at 6 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device

Spruce Mountain will play their final regular season game at Camden Hills on Saturday, October 14th at 1 p.m.
