It's the end of an era for one of the most successful charity tournaments in Maine.

What a run it has been for the Swishout Childhood Cancer Challenge, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament that has raised over $700,000 for the Maine's Children's Cancer Program (MCCP) since 1994. This year's event will be the 30th and last edition, so everyone is hoping it goes out with a bang.

The tournament, which is proudly presented by Town & Country Credit Union, will be held on Sunday, March 10, at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham. There are numerous divisions for all ages and skill levels. The winners of each division get Visa Gift Cards. There's also prizes for the top fundraising individual and team which is great to see, considering this is what the tournament has been all about for the last 30 years.

I'm certainly sad to see this incredible tournament ending, but I'm so proud of what this incredible team has accomplished. The hard work and dedication by all the organizers and volunteers is simply exceptional and heart-warming. The money raised has made an incredible impact for this community, along with the ongoing awareness and advocacy for the MCCP.

Looking to get a team in for the final edition of the tournament? Head on over to the Swishout website to get all the details and to register a team. You can also make a donation to the tournament. This year's goal is $60,000. I have a feeling that will be met.

A huge thank you to all who have been involved in this incredible tournament over the last 30 years. Volunteers, sponsors, organizers, players, and everyone who has donated have all done their part in making a positive impact in our fight against childhood cancer.

Now, let's make sure that goal is met, and then some.
