Jefferson, Edwards Win CAA Weekly Awards

Ramon Jefferson and Earnest Edwards were two big reasons why UMaine football beat Elon on Saturday and wrapped up the CAA title. Now, both players have been named CAA Players of the Week.

Jefferson is Rookie of the Week after rushing for 130 yards on 25 carries. Both are career highs.

It is the third time this season Jefferson has been named CAA top rookie of the week.

Earnest Edwards is the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week. He returned two kickoffs for touchdowns vs Elon. That is a UMaine and CAA first. One return was 93-yards, the other was 95-yards. He has four career kickoff returns for TDs.

NOTE: The Black Bears are the #7 seed in the upcoming FCS NCAA Playoffs. Maine will host the winner of this week's Jacksonville State vs East Tennessee State game on Saturday, December 1st.
