The Leavitt Hornets complete a perfect 12-0 season with a 30-24 victory over MCI and claim the Class C State Football Championship.

The Huskies began the night with a surprise on-side kick that they recovered and scored a touchdown. In fact, MCI scored the first two touchdowns of the game.

Their problem was converting the extra points. MCI missed a PAT kick and then went 0-for-3 on two-point conversions.

The Huskies 18-14 halftime lead was tenuous.

Issac Buzzell's 13-yard TD run early in the third quarter gave MCI a 24-14 lead.

From that point forward it was all Leavitt.

Desean Calder and Wyatt Hathaway scored on run plays and most importantly, the Hornets converted on both two-point conversions.

Leavitt wins its first state title since 2013 while MCI finishes the year at 9-3.

NOTE: The Class A, B and D state championship games are at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland Saturday. The D game featuring Bucksport vs Lisbon is live on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket and online at 929theticket.com.
