Brad Libby admitted to some butterflies in the stomach as he got ready to run his first tryout as new Bangor Rams boys varsity coach.

Libby, who takes over the reigns from Carl Parker, coached some of the Bangor kids in the summer and made sure he introduced himself to new players to the program. Around 50 boys are trying out for one of the three teams the Rams will have competing this year.

Libby played his high school basketball at Brewer for coach Mark Reed (now Hermon HS coach). He then played four years of hoops at Husson University and eventually became an assistant coach under Warren Caruso.

Libby is a physical therapist and owns Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation.

The Rams finished 9-10 a year ago, losing in the Class AA North quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

All five starters from a year ago return, including Matt Fleming, who recently signed is letter of intent to play at Division I Army.

The Rams open their season on Friday, December 7th at Lewiston.

NOTE: Hear what Brad Libby has to say about taking over the Rams basketball program on Tuesday's 'Morning Pitch Show' at 8am.
