The Cony High School football team had never played in a state championship until Friday night and they made the most of it with a last minute 30-23 win over Kennebunk.Neither team produced much offense in the first half with Kennebunk taking a 6-0 lead into the locker room. They kept the momentum in the second half and expanded their lead to 16-0. Cony then kicked their high powered offense into gear scoring three straight touchdowns to grab a 22-16 lead, a lead that was short lived as Kennebunk drove down the field and went back in front. Kennebunk had one last chance but Nick Emmons was intercepted by Reid Shostak to seal the win.

After throwing for just 41 yards in the first half, Lucas finished 23-44 for 344 yards and 3 touchdowns. He finishes his high school career with 89 touchdown passes, 41 of them this season. Saban led the team in receiving with 8 catches fr 154 yards and 2 touchdowns.
