High-flying Hermon Hawks Stay Perfect With Win Over Winslow [BOYS]

The undefeated Hermon Hawks kept their perfect record and punched their ticket to the regional finals with a convincing 57-32 win over the Winslow Black Raiders Wednesday night in Bangor.

The high-flying Hawks game out strong, opening up a double digit lead early. Winslow was able to cut the a 16-point lead to just three points late in the third quarter, but the Hawks closed that quarter with an 11-0 run to extend their lead in the fourth quarter.

It was a typically balanced attack from the Hawks, with senior Keenan Marseille leading the way with 18 points. Junior guard Garrett Trask scored 10 points. Jacob Godfrey had eight points and sophomore Isaac Varney added five points. >>FULL STORY>>

MDI Defeats Presque Isle To Earn Return To North Title Game [BOYS]

The MDI Trojans will have a chance to defend their north region championship after a convincing win over the No. 3 Presque Isle Wildcats Wednesday night at the Cross Insurance Center.

The No. 2 Trojans (17-3) enjoyed a double-digit lead throughout most of the night on their way to a 72-60 semifinal win over the Wildcats.

Presque Isle Moves On After Upsetting Top-seed Hermon [GIRLS]

The Presque Isle Wildcats pulled off the second upset of the afternoon, defeating top-ranked Hermon 55-52 in a Wednesday semifinal and earning a spot in the regional final on Saturday.

Although the Hawks made a late run, it was too little, too late against Presque Isle, who controlled the game from early on behind a strong performance from senior star Emily Wheaton.

Winslow Handles John Bapst To Advance To North Final [GIRLS]

The Winslow Black Raiders might have started slowly in their semifinal match-up with John Bapst, but that didn't last long.

Winslow's tenacious defense proved too much for the No. 2 Crusaders, who trailed in the contest for all but the first few minutes of their semifinal at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

When the buzzer sounded, Winslow came away with a 39-26 win and a trip to the regional final on Saturday.

The win came despite Winslow committing 25 turnovers.

Fort Fairfield Advances To Semifinals With Win Over PCHS [BOYS]

The Fort Fairfield Tigers eliminated the PCHS Pirates for the second year in a row, turning in a strong second half on the way to a 64-60 quarterfinal win in Bangor on Wednesday.

PCHS played a tough game, leading at halftime and at the end of the third quarter before going cold from the outside late in the game.

Senior Isaac Cyr took over in the second half, finishing with 27 points for the Tigers. Senior Jared Harvey added 16 points in the win, and senior center Liam McNamee finished with 12 points. >>FULL STORY>>

Mattanawcook Outlasts Penobscot Valley To Earn C North Semifinal Spot [BOYS]

The Mattanawcook Lynx held off a tough Penobscot Valley team in a Wednesday morning Class C quarterfinal game in Bangor.

Mattanawcook, of Lincoln, led for much of the game, but the Howlers were able to tie the game at 32 with less than five minutes left. However, the Lynx were able to regain control in the final minutes on the way to a 45-37 win.

Logan Thompson had 18 points for the Lynx with nine points coming in the fourth quarter. Cayden Spencer-Thompson had 10 in the contest.

Elijah Wood had 13 points for the Howlers.
