Maine's Nick Mayo scored 31 points, including hitting two free throws with 5.7 seconds left as Eastern Kentucky knocked off (25-9) Austin Peay last night in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The win keeps (6-11 OVC,13-17) EKU alive for the conference playoffs. With one game left in the regular season, Mayo and the Colonels are in a three-way tie for 7th place. The top eight teams make the conference tournament.

EKU will host Morehead State in the finale on Saturday.

Mayo, the former Messalonksee High School standout, has had a brilliant career at Eastern Kentucky. The senior is the school's all-time leading scorer with 2,289 points. The season Mayo is #2 in the OVC in scoring (23.6 PPG), #3 in rebounding (8.8 RPG), #1 in free throws percentage (86%) and #3 in blocks with 51.
