The Messalonskee Eagles scored a late touchdown to best the Brewer Witches in a Class B football battle on Friday night in Oakland by a score 36-33.

The Witches and Eagles combined for 10 touchdowns in total during the contest, including nine rushing scores to reach the final score in favor of the Eagles.  Austin Pelletier led the offensive attack for the Messalonskee side with 33 rushes for 247 yards, including two scores.  Pelletier also had two interceptions in the contests well on the defensive side of things

The Eagles jumped out on top early as Alden Balboni took home the score on a 32 yard run, as the teams would alternate rushing scores for the entire first half, resulting in the Eagles holding a 29-20 score at the break.  The Witches would score two times by way of Bryant Kiley rushing touchdowns in the second half to give Brewer a four point lead.  Eagles’ QB Deklan Thurston would complete a 57 yard touchdown to Tyler Lewis for the eventual game winning score.

Lewis finished his night with a running touchdown and a receiving score, while Brewer was led by Bryant Kiley who had three scores and 97 yards.

Brewer falls to 2-4 on the season and will face the Hampden Broncos next week, while Messalonskee goes to 4-2 and will host Cony.
