NCAA D-III: USM To Host Regional

The University of Southern Maine baseball didn't win the Little East Conference title over the weekend but the nationally ranked Huskies are in the NCAA Division III Tournament field of 58 teams, and will host one of the 16 four-team pods.

USM will make its 25th appearance in the NCAA tourney and will host at Flaherty Field in Gorham starting on Friday. Here's the four-team double elimination lineup.

USM (34-7)  vs  New England College ( 25-15)

Oswego State (29-12)  vs  MIT (22-17-1)

The Little East Conference tourney champ, UMass Boston will also host a four-team pod and will play Baruch College (NY) in the first round. The Bearcats beat Husson yesterday to take the North Atlantic Conference qualifier.

UMass Boston (29-11)  vs  Baruch College (17-18)

Wheaton (27-10)  vs  St. Joseph's (ME) (32-10)

NOTE: The 16 region winners will then move into eight 'super regionals' where teams will meet in a best-of-three series with winners moving on to the D-III World Series.
