The Husson Eagles first ever venture into the NCAA second round playoffs ends with a 37-15 loss to the Delaware Valley University Aggies in Pennsylvania.

Too many turnovers, too many penalties cost the Eagles all day.

The Aggies scored their first touchdown mid-way through the first quarter on a 13-yard pass play from Dashawn Darden to Dan Allen.

Early in the second quarter, Darden threw a 57-yard TD pass and then Darden rushed for a 10-yard TD late in the quarter. It was 19-0 at halftime as the Aggie defense held Husson to just 104 total yards.

The Eagles got on the scoreboard with the first possession of the second half. John Smith scored on a 9-yard rush for the TD. It was 19-7 and Husson had a heartbeat.

But not for long.

A 64-yard kickoff by the Aggies set up a quick touchdown and a pick-six score by the DelVal defense put the game away.

Husson scored one more time late in the game on a 93-yard kickoff return TD by Ty Bassett.

At the end of the day, Delaware Valley racked up 502 yards of total offense. The Eagles managed just 241.

Husson QB Corey Brandon had a rough day, 10-for-20, 97-yards and four interceptions.

John Smith had a big second half and finished with 161 yards rushing on 32 attempts. He had one TD. Smith finishes his senior season with 2,242 rushing yards. For his career, Smith finishes with 6,925 yards, fourth best in NCAA D-III history.

The Eagles finish the season at 10-2.
