The UMaine women's basketball team is headed to ACC country to play the North Carolina State Wolfpack in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game is Saturday afternoon at 1pm in Raleigh.

The Black Bears are the #14 seed while NC State is the #3 seed.

Interestingly enough, the two teams played back on December 15th in Raleigh and the Wolfpack pounded the Bears 84-46. Maine took 41 three-point shots that day and made only 10. Without the injured Fanny Wadling in the lineup, the Bears got out rebounded 50-26.

NC State is 26-5 and finished third in the ACC. Eight teams from that conference are in the NCAA field.

Maine is 25-7 and has a 14 game winning streak.

The  selection show took a strange twist late Monday afternoon when somehow the NCAA brackets got leaked and appeared on social media. ESPN made a decision to move up the show from 7pm to 5pm. That left the UMaine players, their fans and the media in scramble mode to get to the watch party on campus. Many of the players knew of the matchup before it appeared on screen.
