The University of Southern Maine baseball team lost to Swathmore College 9-6 Saturday night. It means the Huskies have a lot harder road to get to the D-III College World Series.

USM is 2-1 at the New York Regional and now has to win a game this afternoon to get back to a championship round vs Swathmore where the Huskies would have to beat them twice.

In the Saturday evening game, USM and Swathmore were tied 6-6 in the 8th inning when the Garnet scored three times off reliever Jake Dexter.

Swathmore outhit the Huskies 14-9.

Andrew Hillier and Jake Dexter led USM, each with two hits.
