Fresh off his second straight Maine Amateur Championship, Jack Wyman will try to do something that hasn't been done since Mark Plummer did it 24 years ago - win the New England Amateur Golf Championship.

And he'll have a chance to do it on his home course, the Portland Country Club.

Wyman and 149 of the best amateur players in New England will tee it up Tuesday through Friday for the chance to be the region's best.

A Mainer winning the tournament is rare. Mark Plummer has won it twice (1994, 1979). Sean Gorgone (1991) and John Sale (1967) have one NE title each. John O. Levinson won it three times (1936, 1937, 1947).
