Two nights after taking down the top seed in Class A, the Bangor girls basketball team took down the #1 seed in Class AA. The Rams beat Portland 48-36 at Red Barry Gym in Bangor.

The Rams boys team also won its game, 64-44, to make it a doubleheader sweep.

In the girls game, Bangor jumped out to a 10-6 lead after one quarter and went on to lead 23-10 at halftime.

Late in the game, the Bulldogs were forced to foul and the Rams hit on enough free throws to win by 12.

Abbie Quinn had 15 points and Abby Fleming added 13 to lead the Rams.

Kierra Eubanks had 11 to lead the Bulldogs.

Bangor improves to 6-3 while Portland drops to 8-2.

In the boys game, the Rams got 11 first quarter points from Sam Martin but trailed by a point, 18-17.

But a strong second quarter gave Bangor a four point lead at the halfway mark.

An 18-10 third quarter separated the teams and the Rams end up winning by 20.

Martin finished with 20. Henry Westrich added 17 and Andrew Szwez had 11.

Stillman Mahan led the Bulldogs with 15.

Bangor improves to 7-2. Portland drops to 2-8.
