Welcome to the business of the NFL, Jamil Demby. The rookie offensive lineman was put on waivers by the Rams and them claimed by the Detroit Lions.

And, interestingly enough, the two teams play each other this Sunday.

The 6-foot-5, 321 pound Demby was drafted in the 6th round of April's NFL draft. He made it through all four LA Rams preseason games, made the opening week roster and then the team got in a numbers crunch.

Once the Rams put him on waivers, the Lions claimed Demby and got him.

Another former UMaine Black Bear, linebacker Trevor Bates, is in the Lions practice squad. Bates was cut by the Lions and then re-signed to their practice squad.

Detroit lost to the New York Jets in the Monday night season opener.
