UMaine's Parise Rossignol scored the first five points of the game and then all of her teammates got into the act as the Black Bears hammered UMaryland Baltimore County (UMBC) 84-44 in the second America East Conference game on the schedule.

Maine led 31-8 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Retrievers 23-6 in the second quarter to put the game away.

Rossignol finished with 19 points in 22 minutes of action. No Black Bear played more than 22 minutes and the scoring got spread around.

The Bears shot 59% (30-for-51) from the field and 56% from the three-point line (15-for-27).

Conversely, UMBC shot 31% and 17%.

Maine improves to 2-0 in AE play (9-6 overall). UMBC is 0-1 and 7-7.

America East Men: UMBC 61  UMaine 52  It was the tale of two halves in Maryland for the UMaine men's team in the conference opener. The Bears led 31-19 at halftime and then the Retrievers pounded Maine 42-21 in the second half. UMBC went from shooting 28% in the first half to 60% in the second half.

Andrew Fleming had 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Bears.

UMBC had three guys in double digit scoring, Brandon Horvath led with 13.

The Black Bears are 0-1 in AE (2-14 overall). The Retrievers are 1-0 and 9-7.
