It’s time for you to help us decide again who should be the winner of this week’s McDonald’s High School Athlete of the Week.  We have our first vote of the winter sports season, and you can choose between six different athletes.

Matthew Fleming had a great first game for the Bangor Rams in their home opener on Friday night.  Fleming dropped a game high 25 points, while also adding nine rebounds and five assists.  The former Oxford Hills player helped the Rams to an 82-47 win to push Bangor to 1-0 on the season.

Sydney Allen of Central High School dropped 24 points in 71-36 victory for the Red Devils over the Sumner Tigers over the weekend.  The senior has the Central side at the 1-0 mark after helping the team reach the quarterfinals in Class B last season.

Lee Academy bested reigning state champions George Stevens Academy, and one of the big contributors was sophomore Kuan Yeh.  In the contest for the Pandas, Yeh had 20 points in the contest to lead all scorers on his team.  The loss also snapped a long winning streak for the Eagles after they finished the regular season with an 18-0 record a year ago.

Sophomore Maggie Castonguay added in 20 points to lead Presque Isle in scoring in an impressive victory over Washington Academy.  The Wildcats picked up a 90-15 win on the road and will have to travel to face Belfast on Saturday for their next contest.

Ellsworth High School senior Zach Harris had one of the best opening night performances in Northern Maine.  Harris put up 34 points in a 64-47 win over the Orono Red Riots this past weekend.  After the road win, the Eagles have their home opener on Tuesday versus Old Town and will face GSA on Friday.
