The UMaine field hockey team is off to its best start in 25 years and the Black Bears keep moving up in the national poll.

The 5-0 record matches the 1993 team start to a season and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll puts UMaine in a tie for 18th in the country with Harvard.

The highest ever ranking for a Black Bear field hockey team came in 2011 when the team reached #10.

The best start to the season came in 1975 when the Bears started 8-0.

America East Conference play starts on September 28th.
