Boston College freshman and Maine native Oliver Wahlstrom has signed a three year, entry level contract with the New York Islanders and has reported to their AHL team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Wahlstrom was the 11th overall pick in last June's amateur draft by the Isles.

He played 36 games at Boston College as a freshman, scoring eight goals and 11 assists in 13 games. He also played for Team USA in the World Junior Tournament in December.

Wahlstrom was born in Yarmouth. His father played for the UMaine Black Bears.

He will wear #38 for Bridgeport. The AHL team has six regular season games left and the team will qualify for the AHL playoffs.
