Former Black Bear and major leaguer Billy Swift called into Downtown Monday and spoke with Rich and longtime Maine baseball broadcaster George Hale about the late John Winkin. Swift recalled his first meeting with Winkin and how the Maine coach reminded him of his father, Herb. Swift, who was runner-up for the National League Cy Young Award as a member of the San Francisco Giants and is now the head coach at Arizona Christian, talked about using the lessons of John Winkin as he works with young players today.
