Bangor and Hermon claim regional titles in competitive cheerleading events held in Augusta and Bangor.

The Rams edged out Lewiston, 92.4 points to 86.8 points, to claim Class A North. Bangor will try to make it two out of the last three years as state winners in two weeks time.

There are five other teams who qualified for the states from the North Regional - Oxford Hills, Hampden, Mt. Ararat and Brunswick.

The Hermon Hawks won the Class B regional crown with a score of 88.2 and now have a chance to make it four straight state titles.

Other teams earning spots in the states were Brewer, Ellsworth, Presque Isle, Old Town and John Bapst.

Class D North/South sends the top eight teams, led by Central Aroostook. The other teams bound for state championship day in two weeks - PVHS, Bangor Christian, Woodland, Lee Academy, Penquis, Machias and Wiscasset.

In Class C, Sumner wins the regional title. Central, Mattanawcook Academy, Houlton, Bucksport and Dexter also earned spots at the state championship.
