Sox Call Up Seadogs Benintendi [VIDEO]

After 151 minor league games, the Red Sox have called up highly touted OF Andrew Benintendi and he's joining the starting lineup.

The Sox made the decision over the weekend not to trade Benintendi at the deadline. Instead, he will join them tonight in Seattle. Benintendi will be available off the bench tonite and then be the starting leftfielder against righthanded pitchers. Brock Holt goes back to his super utility role.

The meteoric rise for Benintendi began when he was draft last June with the 7th overall pick.

His total numbers through Class A Salem and Double-A Portland are... .312 / 31 Doubles / 9 HRs / 16 SB. He was named Eastern League player of the week Monday.
