Maine's first ever high school Commissioner of Officials is longtime educator Jeff Benson.  Maine Principals' Association (MPA) executive director Mike Burnham made the announcement today.

With the retirement of longtime basketball commissioner of basketball, Peter Webb, the MPA is transitioning to this new position in which Benson will oversee officials for all high school sports in the state.

Benson recently retired after more than 40 years in education. He spent 28 years as an athletic administrator and also officiated 32 years in basketball, 29 years as a baseball umpire and 15 years as a soccer official.
