
Black Bears Get Overtime 4-3 Win
Freshman Patrick Shea tipped in a Patrick Holway shot just 20 seconds into overtime to give the UMaine Black Bears a 4-3 win over Merrimack Friday night at Alfond Arena.
The victory moves Maine into 5th place in the Hockey East standings at 9-6-3 (15-9-4 overall).
Brendan Robbins had the big night for the Bears, getting a hat trick, scoring an even strength goal, a shorthanded goal and a penalty shot goal.
Goalie Jeremy Swayman stopped 36 Merrimack shots.
The Warriors drop to 4-12-2 and 7-16-4.
The Black Bears take a six game unbeaten streak (4-0-2) into Saturday night's game two of the series in Orono.
