The Bowdoin College women's basketball came up short in its quest for a Division III national championship. Amherst College beat the Polar Bears 65-45 in the Saturday night title game.

Bowdoin finishes the season 29-3. Amherst wins its second straight tile and back-to-back undefeated seasons.

In Rochester, Minnesota the two NESCAC conference rivals battled through three quarters of close play. In fact, the Mammoths broke open a six point lead after three quarters by outscoring the Polar Bears 23-9 in the fourth.

Bowdoin struggled on offense all night, shooting just 27% while Amherst shot 58%.

Emma McCarthy had 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Mammoths.

Laurren Petit had 12 to lead the Polar Bears. Bangor's Cordelia Stewart had four points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes of play.
