Josiah Cyr pitched a four-hit gem to lead the Brewer Witches past the John Bapst Crusaders in a Class B quarterfinal game Thursday afternoon at Heddericg Field.

Cyr tossed seven innings of shutout baseball, allowing just 4 hits with no walks and nine strikeouts in Brewer's 2-0 triumph.

Cyr added a single and a stolen base in the third.

Kobe Rogerson scored both of Brewer's runs.

After reaching first base on an error in the first inning, Rogerson stole second and then advanced to third and scored on two wild pitches.

Rogerson reached first base with a bunt single in the third. He scored later in the inning on a single by Levi Williamson.

Alec Gagnon took the hard-luck loss, allowing just one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters in six innings.

Gagnon also knocked in the only run of the game for the Crusaders with a single in the sixth inning.

Brewer will play the winner of Thursday's MDI-Gardiner game in the semifinals on Saturday.

John Bapst ends its season with a record of 9-9.
