Ellsworth Eagles pitcher Matt Burnett is among eight finalists for the Dr. John Winkin Mr. Baseball Award. It goes to the state's top high school player.

The USM bound senior pitcher was 6-0 in regular season play for the Eagles. In 30.2 innings of work his ERA 0.68 with 57 strikeouts.

Burnett led Ellswoth in hitting with a .447 average and 14 RBI.

The Mr. Baseball Award winner will be announced at the Senior All Star Games event next week.
