Calais Blue Devils vs. Madawaska Lady Owls

The Calais Blue Devils rained three-pointers on the Madawaska Owls Wednesday morning on their way to a quarterfinal win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The No. 6 Blue Devils (18-1) hit a single-game, tournament-record 12 three-pointers on their way to a 74-42 win over the No. 3 Owls. Those dozen threes sets an overall tournament record regardless of class.

Junior Lauran Cook led the Blue Devils with 29 points -- including six three-pointers. Junior Olivia Huckins scored 24 points -- including five three-pointers -- in the win. Sophie McVicar added 9 points -- including one three-pointer.

Although the final might suggest otherwise, Madawaska hung tough with the Blue Devils in the first half. However, Calais' sharp-shooting and pressure defense proved too much for the Owls in the second half as the Blue Devils widened the lead.

Jenna Dugal had a team-high 17 points for Madawaska.

The Owls finished the season at 14-5.
