For the second consecutive summer Chile is Copa America Champions after the South American side beat Lionel Messi and Argentina in penalty kicks.

The action was tight throughout the night as both sides were goal-less during regulation.  There was quite a bit of action during the on field play through the 120 minutes of play with both teams getting a player sent off via a red card and the teams also combining for seven yellow cards.

The game was decided via penalty kicks and it was Messi who missed the first shot taken by either side to put his team into a deficit.  Chile would go on to hit four of their next five into the back of the net to secure another Copa America title.

The top ranked Argentian side has now lost in the final of four straight major competitions and Messi said that he will retire from play with the national team after another disappointment.

The US national side came up short against Columbia on Saturday in the third place game by a score of 1-0.  The US now look towards World Cup qualifying in the fall.
