Deer Isle-Stonington Punches Ticket To North Final

The Deer-Isle Stonington Mariners came roaring back late in the fourth quarter to overtake the Woodland Dragons and earn themselves a spot in the Class D North final on Saturday.

The No. 2 Mariners were able distance themselves from the No. 3 Dragons in the final minutes to come away with a 51-44 win Thursday night at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Sophomore Kaylee Morey led the unbeaten Mariners with 18 points. Lillian Gray added 12 points. Brienna Limeburner added eight points, including key free throws in the final minutes.

In the loss, sophomore Emily Curtis scored 30 of the Dragons points.

Deer Isle Stonington will play in the Class D North final at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor .
