The Ellsworth Eagles got a four-point play from Darby Barry in the final seconds to beat Hermon 50-49 in a big Class B North game Wednesday night.

The battle between the #3 Eagles and #2 Hawks stayed close all night. The teams were tied 22-22 at the half and 37-37 after three quarters.

In the crucial fourth quarter, Hermon's top scorer, Isaac Varney fouled out of the game at the 3:50 mark with 21 points.

The Hawks had a four point lead but missed opportunities to increase the lead by shooting just 3-for-9 from the free throw line.

With 19-seconds left, Eagles senior Darby Barry hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 49 and got fouled on the shot. He made the free throw and put his team ahead by one.

The Hawks got a good look at the buzzer but the shot hit the rim and fell off.

Jackson Curtis led Ellsworth with 22 points. Barry added 10.

Varney led Hermon with 21. Eli Reed added 9.

The (8-2) Eagles slide in to second place in Class B North with the win. The (10-2) Hawks are two Heal Points behind in third.
