Ellsworth Claims Class B State Title
Mr. Baseball Award finalist Matt Burnett pitched the Ellsworth Eagles to their first state championship in 31 years Saturday afternoon, shutting down Freeport 2-0 in the Class B title game in Standish.
Burnett threw a complete game three-hitter, striking out eight and walking three.
The Eagles finish the spring at 19-1.
The Lisbon High School Greyhounds finished one of those magical seasons, beating Orono 4-1 for the Class C state championship and finishing the season 20-0.
Noah Austin pitched a brilliant game and the Greyhounds scored one run in the 3rd inning and three more in the 4th to take command of the game.
