After a buzzer-beating semifinal  win to get into the Class B North finals, the No. 2 Ellsworth Eagles didn't need any drama to down the Orono Red Riots on Saturday at the Cross Insurance Center.

The Eagles handily defeated the No. 4 Red Riots 52-34 in front of a crowd of more than 4,300 people to earn a spot in the state finals on Friday.

Senior Bruce St. Peter had 19 points for the Eagles, and junior Bryce Harmon had 13. Nick Bagley added 9.

Lifted by a dunk from Imao Woldring, Orono staged a brief run in the second quarter, but were unable to sustain any scoring threat, as the Eagles defense held the Red Riots in check.

Kameron Hines was the leading scorer for the Red Riots with 8 points. Woldring, Jake Koffman and Keenan Collett each added six for Orono.

The Eagles will play Lake Region at 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Ellsworth improves to 17-4. Orono finishes the season at 16-5.
