Husson Opens Training Camp

With just a few days left in the UMaine football training camp, the battle for the starting quarterback job continues.The Bears held their final scrimmage of camp Tuesday afternoon with Sophomore Dan Collins taking the bulk of the snaps with the first team offense. Collins has the most experience of the returning quarterbacks having appeared in two games last season. Freshman Drew Belcher saw significant time with second offensive unit. Coach Jack Cosgrove said after the scrimmage that he was not happy with the performance of the offense, and more examination of the QB's play would take place by watching the film.

The Bears open the season at home on the 30th against Norfolk State.

Training camp for the Husson University football team got underway on Monday as coach Gabby Price welcomed 123 players back to campus. The Eagles are looking to build on last years 5-5 record that was bolstered by a young and impressive defense. The offense will be led by junior quarterback Joe Seccareccia who took over a few games into the season. After returning to the program last season, coach price believes a full year of recruiting has resulted in a deeper roster of talent.
