Sophomore standout Nia Irving scored 21 points and the Lawrence Bulldogs beat Bangor 58-40 Saturday afternoon at Red Barry Gymnasium. The Bulldogs improve to 6-1, the Rams drop a seventh straight game and fall to 2-7.

Coach John Donato's Lawrence team got 10 first quarter points from Irving to grab a four point lead. The Bulldogs simply added to that lead all day, eventually winning by 18.

Bangor turned the ball over 27 times and Lawrence cashed in on many of those turnovers. The Bulldogs also went 20 of 22 from the foul line. Bangor was just 2 of 7.

Along with Irving's 21 points, Dominque Lewis scored 14 and Paige Belanger added 12. Lawrence will maintain the #2 spot in Class A east.

It was win #483 for John Donato in his 40+ years of high school coaching.

For Bangor, Mary Butler scored 15, freshman Katie Butler had 8 and Sarah Bragg 7. The Rams losing skid has reached 7 games after winning their first two games of the season.
