Thomaston's Ricky Jones made it to the round of 64 at the USGA Mid-Amateur Golf Championship and then lost on the 19th hole of his first match play competition.

Jones tied for 6th place through two days of stroke play at the national tournament in Pennsylvania.

The top 64 players squared off in match play today and Jones played Stephen Anderson from Florida. The match lasted 19 holes - Jones bogeyed the 19th, Anderson made par to win and move on in the competition.

The Mid-Amateur Championship is designed for the country's top amateur that are of post-college age. You have to be at least 25-years-old to gain entrance.

Jones is a three-time Maine State Amateur Golf champion.
