JW Parks Team Wins MSGA Team Title
Pittsfield's Gavin Dugas returned to Maine from the NCAA D-III Golf Championship in time to help his JW Parks GC team win the Maine State Golf Association 2017 Club Team Championship.
Dugas, who finished 16th at the NCAAs in Florida last week playing for Husson University, joined his brother Eric, along with Carter Pearl and Bob Ballard to shoot a team score of 9-under par at Belgrade Lakes GC.
The team from Penobscot Valley CC in Orono finished in second place. That team was made up of Casey Catell, Jason Harvey, Len Cole and Will Hutchings. Team PVCC fired a score of 6-under par.
The tourney uses the 2-Best-Balls-of-4 format. 42 teams from around the state competed for the championship.
NOTE: The team championship event is the first of several state championships put on each year by the Maine State Golf Association as the MSGA celebrates its 100th year in 2017.
