Former UMaine hockey great Paul Kariya watched his #9 jersey get lifted to the rafters at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The former Black Bear is just the second player to have his number retired by the NHL's Ducks.

After his time in Orono, Kariya was drafted by the then Mighty Ducks and went on to score 300 goals for Anaheim. He had two 100-point seasons and one 50-goal season.

Maine hockey fans will remember he scored 100 points leading the Black Bears to the NCAA national title in 1992-93.

His UMaine #9 hangs at Alfond Arena. He's a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. And now the Anaheim number retirment.
