Kohtala Signs NLI With Alabama
Orono High School long jumper Camille Kohtala signed her National Letter of Intent and made it official today - she's going to attend Alabama in the fall and join the Crimson Tide track & field program.
Back in February, Kohtala smashed a PVC/EMITL record when she jumped 19-feet 4-inches. Only Kate Hall, who was a standout at Georgia, is the only Mainer to jump a longer distance.
Kohtala says she sent that long jump info to the coach of Alabama along with a personal letter and it all worked into a partial athletic and partial academic scholarship.
She has had a remarkable high school career, winning state title in the long jump and the 400m event.
Kohtala is the Class C outdoor champ in the 200m and 400m as well as a cross country title.
