Mt. Ararat High School senior Caleb Manuel blistered the Tomahawk Course at Natanis Golf Club with a 9-under par 63 score to lead his team to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) title and a spot in the state championship tournament on Saturday.

Manuel was the medalist by a whopping 13 strokes.

Brewer's Josh Birch and Hampden Academy's Jay Hatch tied for 7th place +10 (82). Both qualify for the state Individual Championship on October 12th.

KVAC Class A team qualifiers for states: Mt. Ararat, Messalonskee, Lewiston, Edward Little and Hampden.

In KVAC Class B, Leavitt High School golfer Ruby Haylock fired a 4-over par 76 to lead the Hornets to the conference title and into the state tourney.

Other state qualifying teams include Belfast, Waterville, Medomak Valley and Gardiner.

NOTE: The Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) golf championships will be played Wednesday.
