A night after thumping #13 UMass 6-2, the #5 Maine Black Bears Men's Hockey Team was shutout by the Minutemen 4-0 at the Mullins Center in Amherst on Friday, November 7th.

Maine outshot UMass 38-35 but couldn't solve back-up goalie Jackson Irving. Albin Boija had 31 saves.

Maine was 0-5 on the power play, while UMass was 0-6.

UMass led 1-0 at the end of the 1st period, and 3-0 at the end of the 2nd intermission. The Minutemen scored an empty-netter as the game wound down.

UMass improves to 7-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in Hockey East, while Maine falls to 6-3-1 overall and 3-1-0 in Hockey East.

Maine returns to the Alfond on November 14th and 15th when they will host the Vermont Catamounts.
