The best in Class C take over the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Tuesday.

Bouchard Powers Top-seed Houlton Past Piscataquis [GIRLS]

The top-ranked Houlton pulled away from Piscataquis Tuesday night to a convincing quarterfinal victory at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Senior standout Kolleen Bouchard powered the defending regional champs past the outmatched Pirates, who fell to Houlton 65-26.

Houlton, who moved to Class C this year, used its potent offense and smothering defense to stymie the Pirates, who fell behind by 40 points at one point in the second half.

Beating the undefeated Shiretowners is no easy task, but even more so for Piscataquis, who lost two of their starters to injury in recent days.

Bouchard led Houlton in scoring with 26 points. >>FULL STORY>>

Defending Champion George Stevens Holds Off Houlton [BOYS]

The Houlton boys gave top-seed George Stevens fits at times in their quarterfinal match-up Tuesday afternoon, but when the buzzer sounded, the defending state champion Eagles came away with a solid win.

Senior Taylor Schildroth scored 23 points in the 55-43 win, which punched the Eagles ticket to a semifinal contest against Fort Kent on Friday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The No. 9 Warriors were led by Keegan Gentle and Cameron Cleary, each of whom scored 12 points. >>FULL STORY>>

Fort Kent Runs Past Central Aroostook in C Quarterfinal [BOYS]

The Fort Kent Warriors hit the court running, jumping out to an early lead on the Central Aroostook and fending off any attempts by the Panthers to close the gap in Tuesday's quarterfinal in Bangor.

When the buzzer sounded, the Warriors came away with a 66-45 win and a ticket to the Class C North semifinals.

It was a familiar story for the Panthers, who -- like in their two regular season meetings with the Warriors -- fell behind early and were unable to make up the difference against the bigger Fort Kent team.

It was a balanced attack from the Warriors. Junior Camden Jandreau led the team with 17 points. Senior Jacob Daigle had 16 points in the win and junior Caleb Deslisle added 14 points.

Dexter Defeats Fort Kent To Advance To Semifinals [GIRLS]

The Dexter Tigers breezed past Fort Kent in Tuesday's Class C quarterfinals at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

No. 2 Dexter, who have become perennial tournament participants, pulled away early in the contest on their way to a 52-13 win over the No. 7 Warriors, who struggled to score in their first tournament game in eight years.

Freshman guard Peyton Grant had 23 points in the contest. Another freshman, Avery Herrick added 14 points.

It was a tough day for the Fort Kent Warriors, whose senior captain Libby LaPointe left the game with an injury early in the fourth quarter. >>FULL STORY>>

Calais Bedevils No. 3 Narraguagus To Earn Spot In Class C Semifinals [GIRLS]

The Calais Blue Devils bedeviled rival Narraguagus Knights yet again, upsetting the No. 3 seed in a tight quarterfinal contest in Bangor Tuesday morning.

Sophomore Lauren Cook led the No. 11 Blue Devils, scoring 22 points in the 53-49 win over the Knight at the Cross Insurance Center.

The Blue Devils showed they were not your average 11-seed, outplaying the Knights and earning a spot in the Class C semifinals.

Calais (13-6) had handed the Lady Knights their only loss early in the season. Narraguagus, who finished the season at 17-2, later avenged that loss. But Calais proved too much for Knights Tuesday morning, with strong performances by both Cook and freshman Sophie McVicar, who added 12 points for the Blue Devils. >>FULL STORY>>
