Hermon Hawks Tame Presque Isle Wildcats To Advance To Semis [GIRLS]

The Hermon Hawks were firing on all cylinders Saturday morning, rolling over the Presque Isle Wildcats for a quarterfinal win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Senior center Caitlynn Tracy  led the way to a 67-32 win for the No. 2 Hawks.

"I knew this could be my last game so I had to give it all I got," Tracy said after the game. That she did, finishing with 32 points.

MCI Roars Back To Beat Oceanside In Overtime [BOYS]

The MCI Huskies came roaring back in the fourth quarter to send their quarterfinal match-up with Oceanside to overtime. The Huskies kept in going in the extra period to come away with a 58-52 win.

Jaroslav Ruta led the No. 5 Huskies with 23 points in the Class B quarterfinal win. Joseph Cloutier added 10 points for the Huskies.

Winslow Holds Off Old Town For Quarterfinal Win [GIRLS]

The defending state champion Winslow Black Raiders held off a tough Old Town Coyote team Saturday afternoon in quarterfinal action at the Cross Insurance Center.

The No. 5 Black Raiders advance to the Class B North semifinals after defeating the No. 4 Coyotes 36-29.

After trailing 22-14 at the half, Old Town cut the lead to one point in the second half but Winslow was able come away with the win.

Top-seed Hermon Overpowers Presque Isle To Stay Perfect [BOYS]

The top-seed Hermon Hawks stayed perfect with a Saturday afternoon quarterfinal win over the Presque Isle Wildcats.

Hermon (19-0) defeated Presque Isle 58-30 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The defending state champions started strong, holding the Wildcats to just one point in the first quarter. While Presque Isle showed flashes of at points in the game, Hermon was too strong for the Wildcats.

Cody Hawes led the Hawks with 15 points. Garrett Trask had 11 points. Kent Johnson and Joel Bergeron each added eight points. >>FULL STORY>>

Top-seed MDI Pulls Away From MCI To Quarterfinal Win [GIRLS]

The top-seed MDI Trojans pulled away from the No. 9 MCI Huskies in the second half on the way to a Class B North quarterfinal win Saturday in Bangor.

The Trojans held a 21-20 lead at the half, but held the MCI offense in check in the second half on the way to a 42-27 win at the Cross Insurance Center.

Brewer Advances To Semis With Win Over Mt. Blue [BOYS]

The Brewer Witches frustrated the higher-seed Mt Blue Cougars Saturday afternoon, earning a trip to the Class A North semifinals.

The young Witches took good care of the ball and played strong defense in the 71-60 win at the Augusta Civic Center.

It was a balanced attack from the Witches with Dylan Huff scoring 21 points. Trevor Pearson had 15 points and Eric Newcomb added 14 points.

Derek Reynolds led the Cougars with 18 points.


Skowhegan Indians Upset Hampden Broncos In Thriller [BOYS]

The Skowhegan Indians defeated the defending regional champion Hampden Broncos in a thriller Saturday evening in Augusta.

It was a back-and-forth battle for the entire game, but after taking a slim lead in the fourth quarter, the No. 7 Indians were able to hold off the No. 2 Broncos for a 68-63 win at the Augusta Civic Center.

Marcus Christopher finished with 26 points in the win for the Indians. Freshman Levi Obert had nine points on three key three pointers late in the third quarter that gave the Indians a cushion heading into the final quarter.

For the Broncos, Bryce Lausier had 27 points, including 15 fourth-quarter points.

No. 7 Skowhegan will play No. 6 Brewer in the Class A North semifinal on Wednesday in Augusta.

Skowhegan improves to 9-10.

Hampden finishes the year at 14-5.
