Portland will not be one of the upcoming NCAA Regional sites for Division I hockey as the sports governing body announced venues through 2019 on Tuesday afternoon.

The NCAA announced that the DCU Center in Worcester, MA and the Webster Bank Arena in Brideport CT would be the hosts for the two Northeast Regionals in 2018, while the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, RI and the SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH were awarded the 2019 events.  The cities of Sioux Falls, ND, Fargo, ND, and Allentown, PA were also listed as Regional venues in the next two seasons.

UMaine Associate Athletic Director Seth Woodcock announced last August that the school would be submitting bids to host an NCAA Regional at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland for the years of 2019, 2020, and 2021.  The venues for 2020 and 2021 will not be determined until a later date, while Manchester and Providence recently held the two Northeast Regionals this past March.

The KeyBank Center in Buffalo will be the site of the 2019 Frozen Four, while the new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit will be the host in 2020, the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh for 2021, and the TD Garden in Boston in 2020 were also chosen as future Frozen Four sites.
