Powell, Dugas Earn NE Amateur Spots [SCORES]

Husson University golfer Gavin Dugas and former Bangor HS golfer Drew Powell are among 26 golfers who qualified for the New England Amateur Golf Championship.

Powell, who plays on the Brown University golf team now, fired a 3-under par 67 at Webhannet GC in Kennebunk to finish in a tie for 3rd place at the qualifier. Dugas shot an even par 70 and finished in 5th place.

84 players were playing Monday for the top 18 spots and ties to get a spot in next month's New England Amateur.

That tournament will be held at Portland CC from July 17th through the 19th.
