Prouty Pitches Bangor To 3-2 Win [SCORES]

Bangor lefty Carson Prouty needed just 77 pitches to go the distance and beat Yankee Ford/South Portland 3-2 in an elimination game at the Maine State American Legion Baseball Tournament.

The victory puts the Bangor Coffee News Comrades into championship Wednesday, needing to win two games to claim another state title.

Prouty needed to be sharp because the Comrades managed just two hits all day but pushed across a run in the 3rd inning and two more in the 4th.

Prouty struck out four and did not walk a batter.

The win gets Bangor to a 4pm game Wednesday vs Bessey Motors (Oxford HIlls). Bessey beat Coastal 3-1 and that means three teams have one loss heading into today's final day of the tourney. A Bangor victory in the 4pm game sets up the Comrades to play in a title game at 7pm vs Coastal.
