Prouty Sets 2 New England Records
14-year-old Maine swimmer Carson Prouty is at the top of the time list in the national YMCA 200 Individual Medley(IM) event after setting a New England record over the weekend at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Representing the Canoe City Swim Club in Old Town, Prouty swam a regional record time of 1:57.39. No other YMCA swimmer in his age group is faster in the nation.
Prouty also set a New England record in the 100 Backstroke (53.83). He also won the 100 Freestyle in a time of 49.06.
Prouty is a freshman at Bangor High School. In February, he won first place for the Rams in the Class A swim meet in the 100 Backstroke competition.
His times qualifies him for the National YMCA Championships in North Carolina.
